Conducting a Study

Part 1:  Design

 

           

Task:                You will propose a study that you believe will help you solve a problem that is relevant to your life.  Your study must examine the relationship between two numerical variables or within 1 numerical variable.

 

Procedures:       Use your notes, class discussions, textbook, and knowledge of the scientific method to carry out the design phase of conducting a study.

                        This phase includes:

 

1.      giving background on, declaring, and justifying the problem

2.      predicting the outcome with justification

3.      discussing and justifying all details related to data collection

 

                        Do not actually proceed with collecting the data.

 

Time:                You will be given at least two class periods to work on Part 1.
